First Steps Early Childhood Learning Centres are privately owned and operated long day care centres in South East and Far North Queensland.
Our team of highly qualified and trained staff have developed and grown our centres into spaces where parents feel safe leaving their children, and where children learn and thrive at their own pace.
Our philosophies and curriculums are shaped by the children, educators and families in each location ensuring a unique and tailored experience for each community.
Educational Program
At First Steps, we provide a total learning environment where children are encouraged to observe, question, experiment and explore. The staff involve the children in the programme and the children’s interests are the basis for their planning. To ensure all our programming meets government guidelines, we have incorporated the new Early Years Learning Framework (Belonging, Being & Becoming) across all centres.
BELONGING
Belonging acknowledges children’s interdependence with others and the basis of relationships in defining identities. Experiencing belonging is knowing where and with whom you belong.
BEING
Being recognises the significance of the here and now in children’s lives. It is about the present and them knowing themselves, building and maintaining relationships with others, engaging with life’s joys and complexities and meeting challenges in everyday life.
BECOMING
Becoming reflects the process of rapid and significant change that occurs in the early years as young children learn and grow.
